Dr. David B. Starkey Sr., age 60 and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Mercy Regional Medical Center from complications of Covid.
David was born March 16, 1961 in Ashland to the late Dr. Jack B. Starkey Sr. and Nelda R. Starkey (nee Cook).  He was a graduate of Ashland High School and the National College of Chiropractic in Chicago.  David had private practices in Lorain and Avon.  He was passionate about his family and his work. He loved helping people through chiropractic care but expanded his knowledge to help people through functional medicine and functional neurology. He loved making a difference in everyone’s lives…family, friends, and patients. He was fun-loving,
enjoyed travel, antiques, and coaching basketball while the kids were in school. David rejoiced when the Cleveland Cavaliers won the national championship. He also had a major sweet tooth, his Achilles heel was a pack of peanut M&Ms. He enjoyed John Wayne westerns, the Harry Potter series, loved decorating for all holidays and partaking in every holiday tradition. He especially enjoyed cutting bread for a week for the perfect Thanksgiving stuffing. He was fun loving, spontaneous, and a devoted father and husband. He had a heart of gold and will truly be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years Penny L. Starkey (nee Flynn); their daughter Savannah Starkey (Anthony Dickard), his sons David Starkey Jr., Michael Starkey II (Megan), Nathaniel Starkey, grandchildren Kayla and Justin Starkey, and his brothers Dr. Jack Starkey, Jr. (Kathy) and Dr. Michael Starkey (Jane).
He was also preceded in death by his brother Steven Starkey.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
In David’s honor, memorials may be made to Friendship APL, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.
