Nancy Galarza Bermudez, 57, of Lorain passed away unexpectedly Friday October 15, 2021. Born on October 21, 1963 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, she was raised in Brooklyn, New York and Orlando, Florida before moving to Lorain in 1984. Nancy worked several jobs most notably as a corrections officer at the Lorain County Sheriff's Department for six years. She also worked as a security officer at St. John Medical Center for ten years and Pierre Foods for several years. Nancy loved to entertain friends and family. Whether it was a party at home or in a big hall, Nancy knew how to throw an event. An artist at heart she liked to sketch, design, paint, decorate, sing, sew and dance. She also enjoyed cooking and was known for her signature dish, arroz con gandules (Puerto Rican rice and pigeon peas). Nancy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Felix Bermudez, her daughter Margarita (Erica), of Euclid, her son Felix Jr. of Coral Gables, Florida, and stepdaughters Stephanie (Jaime) Ortiz of El Paso, Texas and Lissa Lovett of Lorain; brother Joaquin Galarza, sister Cindy Galarza and parents Benjamin and Carmen Galarza all of Casselberry, Florida. Despite not having any relatives in Ohio, Nancy was blessed with many friends whom she considered her family since coming to Lorain. A big heart with a big personality, Nancy will truly be missed. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, 3900 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, OH 44052. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Thursday, October 21,2021 at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave, Lorain.  Guests received one hour prior to the mass.  Private family interment in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
