Richard E. “Geach” McGeachie, and 75 and a resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Anchor Lodge, Lorain, after a long illness.


Richard was born March 29, 1943 in Lorain to the late Earl and Emma (nee Bodnar) McGeachie.  In his youth he attended Lorain High School and at age 18 went to work for the Ford Motor Company, Lorain plant, where he was employed for 40 years, retiring in 2001.  While working at Ford, he was a relief man for the trim line of the E-150.  In the past, Geach enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing and hunting, billiard tournaments, and playing darts.  He was a former member of the Elyria Fraternal Order of Police Club and also belonged to the former “Red Barn Riders”, Amherst.


Survivors include his wife of 20 years Cheryle A. (nee Wedell), his four children Kenneth Ray (Sandy) of Georgia, Earl Richard (Jackie) of South Carolina, Robert (Melissa) of Heath, Sharon McGeachie of North Carolina, four step-children Robert (Elicia) Robertson of Elyria, Christine Robertson, Sarah Robertson, and Joseph Robertson, all of Michigan, 22 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, sisters Charlene Cossu of Cleveland and Debbie (Dennis) Ortner of Wellington.


In addition to his parents, Geach was preceded in death by his son John Allen (1985), his brother Dale Anderson and his sister Karen Schebo.


Family will receive friends 1-3 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2018 at the Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, 3900 Broadway Avenue, Lorain.
