MaryAnn Corey, age 84 and a resident of Lorain, passed away Tuesday,
September 7, 2021 at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
MaryAnn was born September 4, 1937 in Lorain to the late Matthew Mitchell
Corey and Mary Helen (nee Martincak) Corey. She was a member of the Class
of 1955 of Lorain High School. Throughout her life, MaryAnn was a waitress
at the former Golden Dragon on Broadway and 12 St. in Lorain. After its
closing, she became seasonal help in the cafeteria of Yellowstone National
Park. MaryAnn was a member of Beacon Baptist Church, Lorain.
Survivors include her six children; Vince Velez, Cecelia Velez, Darla Velez,
Evette Gleason, Violet (Mark) Bennett, all of Lorain, Ernesto (Jennifer)
Hernandez of Sheffield Lake, eight grandchildren, and many great and great
MaryAnn was preceded in death by her sons Ismael and Marty Velez and Juan
Hernandez, and sisters Gloria Thornton and Dolores Lopez.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the IAV
Post 1, 4567 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain from 4-7 p.m.
