Sidney Morgan, 87 of Lorain, OH, passed away on February 25, 2021, with his twin daughters, Valarie and Vicki, by his side, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Born on December 6, 1933 in Huntington, WV, he was the son of the late Jack and Edna Morgan (nee Adkins).
He married the love of his life, Leona, in 1953 and they moved to Ohio where he joined the Ohio National Guard (with an honorable discharge in 1958), and then the U.S. Army (with an honorable discharge in 1963). After serving in the military, he worked many jobs to support his family -- parking lot attendant, milk delivery, Gel-Pak, and Angelica Health Care Services (from where he retired), to name a few. He cherished most being a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather.
He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Sheffield Lake, serving as a Deacon there for 55 years, as well as Choir Director for many years. He most recently attended Lorain Baptist Church.
He will be dearly missed by his 6 Daughters: Joyce Mahon, Carol Rogers, Valarie (Bryan) Dunn, Vicki (Jerry) Hiser, Lisa Morgan, Christina (Donald) Szymanel; 12 Grandchildren: Tracy Comstock (nee Salisbury), Kimberly Mahon, Christopher, Steven, and Jeffrey Rogers, Brandi and Michael Dunn, Nicole VanBuskirk and Jill Hiser, Heather Blackshire, Cody and Taylor Szymanel; 26 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild; 4 Brothers: Casey, Robert, James, and Ralph Morgan; and 1 Sister: Elizabeth Lou Verna (Vernie) Adkins.
He was preceded in death by his Loving Wife of 66 years, Leona (nee Gibson), their Oldest Daughter, Susan Morgan (nee Salisbury),and their Grandson Matthew Salisbury; 4 Brothers: Charles, John, George, and Paul Morgan; and 5 Sisters: Rose and Nathalie Morgan, Bessie Murphy, Nita Dixon, and Clara Bell Lacey.
Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, Lorain, entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44053, which provided end-of-life care to both Sidney and Leona.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Lorain Baptist Church, 3640 Palm Ave., Lorain, OH, with a meal provided by members of Lorain Baptist Church) and fellowship immediately after. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and follow COVID-19 social distancing protocols.
