David B. Vandevort, age 79 and a resident of Oberlin, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Westlake Rehab and Nursing after a six month illness.


David was born October 30, 1940 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to the late David B. and Helen (nee Simons) Vandevort.  Throughout his life David worked in sales.  While residing in Pennsylvania in his younger years, David was a Boy Scout Troop Leader.  He was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed all facets of history especially war history.  In recent years what he most loved was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Survivors include his wife of 35 years Christine M. (nee Prokesch), his son Jeff Vandevort of Lorain, Christopher (Shelley) Vandevort of Willoughby, Dana (Pete) Trunzo of Strongsville, step-daughter Elizabeth Davis of Lorain, grandchildren Devan Gulacsi, Ayanna Perkins, Danielle Lieberth, Brandon Perkins, Kyle Vandevort, Leo Trunzo, and great grandchildren Kristofer, Matthew, and Nayomie.


In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his former wife Sandra Vandevort.


There will be no visitation and a private family service will be held.
