William T. Garn, 74, of Lorain, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at University Hospital, Cleveland.

 

He was born July 25, 1947 in Imperial, Pennsylvania to the late Elmer G. Garn Sr. and Helen N. (nee Hughes) Garn.  He grew up in Allegheny County and at the age of 19 enlisted in the United State Marine Corps., where he proudly served during the Vietnam Era.  He valued his military service highly, served as a sergeant, and his specialty title was machine gunner.  William was retired from Republic Services, Oberlin.

 

Survivors include his sons Steven and Donnie Garn, step-daughters; Loretta L. Long, Heather Lopez, Lori Leonard, Lee Leonard, and many grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives Willmia Garn and Roberta Garn, brother Elmer G. Garn Jr., and his sisters Thelma Weese, Margaret Proul, and Shirley Garn.

 

Services with military rites conducted will be 2 p.m. on Thursday at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, Ohio.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the donor’s choice of a veterans organization.
