Alex Jasper Cox, age 27, and a resident of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 24, 2023.

Alex was born in Elyria on July 6, 1996 to Nathan Wayne Cox and Sheri Elaine Cox.  Alex was a member of Carpenters Union Local 425, was employed as a roofer most recently with Castle Construction of Lorain.

Alex enjoyed carpentry, four wheeling and many outdoor activities, but most of all spending time with his friends and family laughing and joking around. Everyone who met Alex loved him.

Survivors include his mother Sheri Cox of Norwalk, sister Hanna Cox of Lorain, brother Stephen Greiner of Elyria, nieces Olivia Cox of Elyria and Paityn Peirce of Elyria, paternal grandmother Eleanor Daniels of Grafton, aunt and uncle Darlene and David Stinson of Vermilion, aunt and uncle Diana and Timothy Markwood of Vermilion, aunt and uncle Annie and Tom Stanley of Norwalk, uncle and aunt Timothy and Mary Lou Cox of Lorain, aunt Linda Cox of Elyria, aunt and uncle Candice and Luis Marcanno of Florida, cousins; Leandra Limon, Cassandra Limon, Kindra Thacker, Chrissy Cox, Tia Cox, Tim Cox, Matthew Cox, Tyler Cox, Emily Cox, Dakota Cox, Brooklyn Chafin, Tiffany Woods, Robby Woods, Cody Ann Woods, Leslie Richardson Samples, Ron Richardson, Marissa Richardson, Kelli Kirian, Tim Markwood, Dan Stinson, Becky Stinson, Matthew Stinson, Michael Stanley, Melissa Stanley, Troy Thompson and Melissa Cox.  He also left behind many friends including Dylan Nibert Sr. and JR. O'Connor.

He was preceded in death by his father Nathan Wayne Cox, brother Joshua Wayne Cox, maternal grandmother Manoka Morgan, maternal grandfather Luther Lay, paternal grandfather Frank Cox, cousins Samuel and Becky Cox, and uncles Phillip and Steven Cox.

Family will receive friends on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Church on the North Coast, 4125 North Leavitt Rd., Lorain from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m.  At 6 p.m. Pastor Troy Thompson will lead a Celebration of Life in Alex's honor.
