Darrel E. Calhoun, age 86 and a longtime resident of Lorain, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Darrel was born April 26, 1939, in Bedford, Pennsylvania, to the late Coy and Rebecca Calhoun.  He proudly served in the United States Army from 1957-1959.  Darrel was employed for 30 years as an assembler at the Ford Motor Company, Lorain Assembly Plant retiring in 1995.  Most recently, he enjoyed watching horse racing and playing the lottery.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, David and Shelley Calhoun of Sullivan, daughter and son-in-law Kelli and Robert Elek of Elyria, sisters Bonnie May of Pennsylvania and Diane DeChant of South Carolina, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Darrel was preceded in death by his wife Kaye Calhoun (2018), infant son Daniel (1964), his brother William Calhoun, and sisters; Beverly Gail Hillegrass, Karen Lesh, Sandra Calhoun, and Cindy Calhoun.

In Darrel's memory, memorials may be made to Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 2949West River Road, North, Elyria, OH  44035.

Friends will be received at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 2949 West River Road North, Elyria, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 4 p.m. until the time of Military Rites at 5 p.m., followed by the funeral service conducted by Rev. Christina LaLonde.  Burial at a later date will take place in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
