IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Earl Ray
Mullins
January 4, 1955 – August 12, 2025
Earl Raymond Mullins, 70, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, after a long struggle with heart failure and declining health.
Born in Holden, West Virginia, on January 4, 1955, Earl was a proud 1973 graduate of Elyria High School. He built a dedicated career in construction, working for Prete Construction in Vermilion before serving and later retiring as a building inspector for the City of Sandusky. Known for his strong work ethic and practical knowledge, Earl left a lasting impact on his community and all those he worked alongside.
Above all, Earl loved watching his children grow, begin careers, and start families of their own. He took great pride in being a father and grandfather, never missing a chance to celebrate their milestones. He also enjoyed cheering on his beloved Cleveland sports teams, faithfully supporting them year after year-even when they "broke our hearts each season."
Earl was an avid slo-pitch softball player, competing in leagues across Amherst, Elyria, and North Ridgeville for decades. When not on the field, he could often be found on the golf course, enjoying the game and the company of close friends.
At home, Earl was happiest in the kitchen, cooking favorite dishes and sharing them with family and friends. He was known for his creativity and sense of fun, especially through his flavorful jello shots, homemade apple pie, and the many varieties of moonshine he perfected over the years.
Those who knew Earl will remember his quick wit, firm beliefs, and the bit of stubbornness that was simply part of his charm. He lived life with honesty and humor, never afraid to speak his mind while always keeping those around him laughing.
Earl is survived by his children, Lindsey (Scott) McElvain, Sydnie Mullins, and Jacob Mullins; grandchildren, Avery, Brayden, and Myah; sisters, Pearl (William) Lahetta and Penny McLoud; long-time companion, Peggy Baker; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who will deeply miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Joyce Mullins, and his brother-in-law, James McLoud.
A Celebration of Earl's Life is being planned for August 2026, where Family and Friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and memories.
A Family picnic will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 5-9 p.m. at the home of Eric and Rebecca Lahetta, 1005 Royal Drive, Amherst, Ohio.
Earl will be remembered for his laughter, his love of family, his competitive spirit, and the joy he brought to every gathering.
