IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Francisco
Gómez Jr.
June 26, 1946 – August 7, 2023
Francisco Gómez Jr, 77, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away on August 7, 2023, after a two-month-long hospital stay that ultimately identified an advanced cancer stage.
Francisco Gómez Jr. was born on June 26, 1946, to Antonia and Francisco Gómez Sr. He is an Admiral King alum that followed in his father's footsteps by becoming a steelworker after graduation and remained in the trade until he was no longer able to work. After departing the workforce, he self-studied to satisfy his passion for automobile mechanics, electronics design, and circuitry.
Francisco's death was preceded by his mother and father and his sisters, Anna Velez and Aida Toledo. Francisco leaves behind his brothers Carmello Gómez, Ramon Gómez, and Roberto Gómez and sisters Norma Gómez Solis and Rosa Gómez Solis.
Although a quiet man and much of an introvert, Francisco never judged anyone and was always willing to assist anyone in need. He kept an inviting demeanor that displayed his "…hello my friend…" mentality. Many throughout Lorain may not know Francisco by name; however, if you lived in the city between 1990 and 2010, you saw him running his 5+ miles daily in a sweatshirt despite the temperature indicative of his mental and physical strength.
Francisco had an emotional soft spot for his two children, Andrea and José, to whom he devoted his life to raising and creating opportunities he had never experienced. Constantly supporting his children, he was their biggest fan from supporting them raising his grandchildren Savannah, Brooklynn, Bianca, Lance Axcel, Autumn, and AJ through walking his daughter-in-law Michelle down the aisle for marriage. Until his last conversations, he constantly encouraged his children and grandchildren to seek higher levels of education and pursue their passions because they "…are smart and can [insert idea discussed in that given conversation]…"
Francisco's consistent actions displayed his unconditional love until his last breaths by waiting until both his children were by his side and in his home. Undoubtedly, Francisco thought of his children and grandchildren as his life. He has left behind a legacy characterized by a parental example of unconditional love, support, selfless service to others, a no-excuse mentality, and a desire to make oneself better mentally and physically continually. He was a textbook example of what a father should be; as the saying goes, "not all heroes wear capes."
The showing will be held at Andras Funeral Home, 3900 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 2pm-4pm.
