Ismael Acevedo Sr., age 71 and a longtime resident of Lorain, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023 at UH Elyria Medical Center from complications of a stroke.

Ismael was born June 6, 1952 in Lares, Puerto Rico to the late Fidel Acevedo and Rosa Ramos.  He moved to Ohio when he was seventeen years old and worked at Barco's Greenhouse in Medina.  He then spent the rest of his career as a diesel mechanic for the former Jefferson Trucking, Lorain from where he retired after over 40 years of employment.  During his lifetime he enjoyed fishing, collecting watches and clocks, and detailing his cars.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years Debra K. (nee Dennison); their sons Ismael Acevedo Jr. (Misty) of Elyria and Martin Acevedo of Amherst, ten grandchildren, one great grandson, and brothers Angel, Fermin, and William Acevedo.

In addition to his parents, Ismael was preceded in death by an infant sister and his brother Martin Acevedo.

All services were private with arrangements entrusted to the Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, Lorain.
