Obituary

Jacqueline Elaine (nee Nieter) Crawford, 47, affectionately known as Jackee, passed away on October 19, 2025, peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones.

Jackee was Born August 6, 1978, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain, Ohio. She was the beloved daughter of Leigh Ann Nieter and Jackie Watson.

Jackee was educated in the Lorain City School system, where she excelled both academically and athletically. As a talented athlete, she played volleyball and earned recognition as a softball MVP. As a child, she was a Brownie Scout, known even then for her ability to brighten any situation and turn a bad day into a good one. Jackee's life was filled with laughter, love, and an unshakable joy that she shared with everyone around her.

Above all, her greatest joys in life came from spending time with her family, who meant everything to her. Jackee's life was beautifully centered around her three children, D'Angelo, Damis Jr., and D'Avanique - each of whom brought her so much pride and happiness. She was blessed to marry the love of her life, Damis Crawford Sr., and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter and love. Their family bond was unbreakable and the deep love they shared formed a beautiful circle of life that defined Jackee's heart.

When Damis Sr. passed away in 2010, it was the most difficult and heartbreaking experience Jackee ever faced. The pain of losing the man she loved so deeply changed her in ways that words can't capture. Though her heart was heavy with grief, she found the strength to keep going - for her children, for her family, and for the life she and Damis built together. Jackee fought through that pain with courage and determination, finding stability through love, faith, and the quiet resilience that defined her spirit. Even in her darkest moments, she never stopped showing up for her family, proving that love can endure even through loss.

She became known as the neighborhood mom for all the friends of her children, and their parents became family to her and her children. Jackee had a beautiful smile, a warm heart, and a hard-working spirit. She was a dedicated and long time employee of the Pizza Hut Franchise, she spent many years working at nearly every Pizza Hut in the area, where she was more than a team member - she was a friend, a confidant, and the source of countless smiles, loved by her coworkers and customers alike, they were drawn to her humor, honesty, and compassion, her infectious laughter and her quick wit. Jackee had a way of making everyone feel lighter, even in the hardest moments. Whether it was leaving random notes for family or friends (and sometimes even her dogs), sharing inside jokes that only she could deliver with perfect timing, or playfully calling someone out with her classic line - "How are you posting on Facebook but not texting or calling me back ?" - Jackee's humor and love of connection made her unforgettable.

She had a rare gift for finding the silver lining in every situation, and for reminding others that even when life gets tough, there's always something to smile about.

Jackee's laughter, love, and light will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her. She enjoyed reading, crafting, taking long walks, and she loved listening to music, everything from old school music with her mom to her son D'Angelo's music.

She leaves to mourn the loves of her life, her three children: D'Angelo Davis (Ashley), Damis Crawford Jr., and D'Avanique Crawford (Jenna), grandchildren: Ezrah, Cairo, and Ka'miyah. Her mother, Leigh Ann Nieter, and father, Jackie Watson, her loving sisters: Asianna Nieter, Mea Nieter, and her uncle, Mark Eichholz. Her entire Crawford family: In-laws, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also shared a lifelong bond with her special cousin, Coyetta Sullivan, as well as her best friends, Jazz McGill, Coy, and Bella Miller, and a host of extended family and friends.

Jackee was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Damis Crawford Sr.; her grandparents; Stanley Nieter, Clementine Eichholz (nee Nieter), Willie Watson Sr., and Elizabeth Watson; as well as her uncles Tim Nieter, Matty Nieter, and Willie Watson Jr.
