September 3, 1948 – July 28, 2024
James "Boomer" Allen Emery, age 75 and a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Mercy Hospice after a one year illness.
Boomer was born in Oberlin on September 3, 1948 to the late James W. and Mary V. (nee Slater) Emery. He attended Firelands High School. James served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Throughout his life, Boomer was a diesel mechanic by trade. He worked for many years at the former E & L Transport in Lorain and completed his career at Jack Cooper Transport from where he retired in 2010. Boomer enjoyed drag racing, motorcycles, hot rod cars, and rat rod cars.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Patti A. (nee Dellefield) Emery, daughters Faith Ann Emery and Alicia Lynn Byrley, grandchildren; Alexis, Stevie, Nathaniel, Dominic, Olivia, Marcel, his great grandson Benedict, and brothers Ron (Norma) Emery and Tom Emery.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother Daniel "Butch" Emery.
Family will receive friends at the Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, 3900 Broadway Avenue, Lorain on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. Military rites conducted by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will take place at 6:30 p.m., followed by services officiated by Pastor Jason Samons.
Memorials may be made to the ASPCA, Wounded Warriors, and the Shriners.
