Joann M. Niskey (nee Walters), age 86 and a life resident of Lorain, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a brief illness.

Joann was born September 8, 1937 in Lorain to the late Joseph and Dorothy (nee Lambur) Walters.  She was a 1956 graduate of Clearview High School. Joann was retired from JC Penney, Elyria where she was employed as an auditor for 40 years, retiring in 2004.  Joann enjoyed crafting, decorating her yard for holidays, traveling, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her three children; David Niskey (Sybil Swanson) of Lorain, Wayne Niskey of Lorain, Jean Farner of Lorain, five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sister Pat Schmidt of Vermilion and sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Gerald Dickinson of Lorain, nieces and nephews, and  her longtime companion Duane Buckholz.

Joann was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leo (2002), sister and brother-in-law Donna (1988) and Neal Szabados, son-in-law Russell Farner (2013), and brother-in-law Richard Schmidt.

Family will receive friends at the Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, 3900 Broadway Avenue, Lorain on Monday from 4-8 p.m.  The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m., followed by interment in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
