John "Wayne" W. Adams, age 80 and a longtime resident of Lorain, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at Mercy Hospice after a two years illness.
Wayne was born November 3, 1943 in Smithfield, Pennsylvania to the late Robert and Anna Adams. Throughout his working career, Wayne was a welder at the former Spanmaster which was in Avon Lake. In his younger years, Wayne was a jockey at Thistledown Race Track and Northfield Park. He enjoyed his boat which he docked at the Copper Kettle Marina and regularly went out perch fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years Peggy Ann (nee Ritter) Adams; their children Steven Adams of Lorain and Jennifer Womack of Florida, three grandchildren; William Logsdon, Johnathon Adams, Jermont Wade, and sisters Rosalee Schutt, formerly of North Olmsted and Luann Adams of Cleveland.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brothers William "Billy" and Chuck, and sisters Eva and Anna Grace.
There will be a memorial visitation from noon until 2 p.m., on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, 3900 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Pastor Mark Telepak will preside the Celebration of Life, 1:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
