Josie Swartz (nee Campo), of Lorain, was surrounded by her family as she went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 25, 2024.  She was born on January 12, 1936, in Lorain, and was a lifelong resident.  Josie graduated from Lorain High School with the Class of 1953B.

Josie was formerly employed by S.S. Kresge, K-Mart, and Hot Dog Heaven in Amherst. She was an active member of St. Peter Parish, Lorain, and served on the bereavement committee. She was also a member of the Ladies Postal Workers Auxiliary and volunteered in the Rosary Group at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain.

Her husband, children, and granddaughters were her greatest joy.  She also enjoyed traveling and being with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband John, her daughters Judith Syrowski (Brad) of North Ridgeville and Kayla Syrowski (John) of Amherst, her son Robert Smith (Cheryl) of Newark, her granddaughters Allison Syrowski of Columbus and Emily Syrowski of Amherst, and her brother Dominic Campo of Florida.

Josie was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Smith (1984), her parents Joseph and Filomena Campo, and brothers Anthony Campo and Salvatore Campo.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Peter Catholic Church, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at noon. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the mass. Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
