Kenneth "Ken" Carder Jr., 61, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on September 9, 2026. His unexpected passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Born on March 2, 1965, Ken was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his career as a Journeyman Grinder Machinist and in serving as a Union Representative. Through his work, he built lasting relationships and was someone who stood up for the people around him.

Ken was a devoted family man who treasured the time he spent with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing Rook and Spades, and sharing good times and laughter with those around him. He had a true passion for sports and was a proud Cleveland Browns fan, always ready to watch the game and cheer on his team.

Ken was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Johnson Carder, and his mother, Daisy Carder.

He is survived by his children, Robert (Kristin) Carder, Melinda Carder, Andrew Carder, and Michael Smith; his grandchildren Alexander and Benjamin Carder; his father, Kenneth Carder Sr.; his siblings, Judith (Bill) Collins, Joy (Randy) Sherrill, Donna (John) Cole, Connie (Denver) Salisbury, and Ruth (Michael) Morris. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will carry his memory with them.

Ken did not want a traditional funeral. Instead, he wanted those who loved him to celebrate his life in their own way. He wanted people to gather together, share stories, laugh, play some cards, remember the good times, and celebrate the life he lived.

A Celebration of Life will be on September 26th, 2026, at 12 NOON, at Refuge Church, 7942 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035, with luncheon to follow.

His memory will live on through his children, grandchildren, the family and friends he loved, the stories that will continue to be told, and all the memories he left behind.

Ken didn't want us to say goodbye with sadness. He wanted us to celebrate him. So play a hand of Spades, watch the Browns, tell a story about Ken, and remember a life well lived.
