IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Krystine "Krys" Mary
Cherney
October 26, 1924 – February 14, 2025
Krystine "Krys" Mary Cherney (nee Piros) peacefully passed away Friday, February 14, 2025. She was born on October 26, 1924, living to be a beautiful and radiant centenarian and left behind a legacy of unconditional love and laughter to all who knew her.
She graduated from Lorain High School in 1943.
Her most recent accomplishments began in 1973 when she graduated from Lorain County Community College and received her associate's degree.
She retired from the Cleveland Center FAA in Oberlin as a computer operator in 1988.
Krys then moved to Monterey, California to live and be with her daughter Pam and grandson Elliott for several years before returning to Lorain to help start the Cleveland Center FAA Credit Union where she was a founding member, taking on the duties of Administrative Assistant before retiring a second time in 2011.
For several years she was also the financial secretary for the Roumanian Club in Lorain.
During this time and for 11 years she then assisted in the Summer Bible School Camps and the Sunday Preschool and Catechism programs at St. Peter's Church.
Krys loved classical music, reading and travel. A glass of wine and an occasional martini along with her cherished cup of coffee and she was happy. She also had a passion for baking but was in bliss in the company and the presence of family and friends. She lived her life to the fullest and with grace, freely sharing her heart, passion, wisdom and positive outlook on life to anyone fortunate enough to be with her on her path of life.
She was an inspiration to everyone and will be missed by many.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Francis Cherney, her dearly loved nephew Stephen "Steve" Demko and her two younger sisters, Victoria "Dolly" Coteff and Elizabeth "Betty" Lindstruth.
She is survived by her daughter Pamela (Todd), cherished grandchildren Elliott, Max, Bethany and Johathan and great-granddaughter Soleil.
A beautiful Celebration of her Life will be held in the spring.
