Linda Gonzalez (née Mateka) was born November 1, 1947, and passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, at the age of 78.

Linda lived a life full of personality and independence in Lorain, Ohio. She worked at Schuster's Greenhouse for many years, where she developed a deep knowledge and love for plants, a passion she shared with her grandchildren. She also adored her dog Belle and her cats Tigger and Cindy, who brought her comfort, joy, and companionship throughout her life.

Although she had a feisty spirit, Linda ultimately cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She found her greatest joy in her grandchildren—Jessica Phelps, Alexis Rodriguez (Adam), Joshua Gonzalez, Jacqueline Cruz-Flores (Jose), and Sofia Pabon and was a proud great-grandmother to Adianna Rodriguez and Adam Rodriguez III.

Her love for her grandchildren was fierce, unwavering, and filled with moments of laughter, honesty, and warmth that will be forever remembered.

She is survived by her children, Freddie Gonzalez (Nilda) and Tracie Gonzalez; her brother, Leslie Mateka; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Justina Mateka and George A. Mateka, and her brothers, John Mateka and George Mateka.

Linda's legacy lives on through the stories, lessons, and love she shared with her family. Her heart was rooted in love and loyalty. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held for family and friends at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick, OH 44212, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM.
