Obituary

Peggy M. Hunker, age 84 and a resident of Oberlin, passed away Friday, May 15, 2026, after a short illness.

She was born in Big Sandy, West Virginia, and resided in Oberlin for the past 55 years. Peggy was retired and previously was employed at the Village Market of Wellington as a meat wrapper.

Peggy is survived by her daughters, Ruth Johnson of Amherst, Marie Farmer of Painesville, Charlene Hunker of Elyria, and Pamela Hunker of Lorain; sons Michael Hunker of Spencer and Vernon "Jimmy" Hunker of Arizona; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her sister Debra Click of Ashland.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Merle V. Hunker; her son, Timothy Hunker; her grandson, Jonathan Siesky; her great-grandson, Brandon Bruce; her parents, Elsie and George Cantu; her brothers, Bob Cantu, Bill Cantu, Elbert Cantu, Lee Cantu, and Clarence Cantu; and her sisters, Elsie Newman, Sally Palos, and JoAnn Nagy.

Family will receive friends on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, 3900 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Mark Telepak officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
