Obituary

Pierson “Pete” Lorandeau, age 81, crossed the finish line of his life on Monday, April 20. Pete died at home surrounded by love from his family. Born in Keene, New Hampshire, Pete was recruited to Kent State University as a long-distance runner. He excelled, becoming a four-time All-American in cross-country and track. Pete served as president of Varsity K, was inducted into Phi Epsilon Kappa honorary, and was named to Who’s Who of American Colleges and Universities. Following his graduation, Pete taught and coached at Firelands and Cuyahoga Falls High Schools. Pete used his construction skills to become a Building Inspector, retiring from the City of Elyria. Pete also served as a volunteer firefighter for Florence Township, retiring after forty-two years, acting as their president for 14 years.

Pete enjoyed traveling, especially his trips to visit his daughter and son-in-law living in Italy and his niece living in France. He also loved cruising anywhere. But Pete was truly happy living and working on the family farm, especially cutting firewood for his home.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Evelyn Lorandeau, and by his brothers Michael and Alan. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nina Hunter Lorandeau, son Pierson (Diane), and daughter Amy (Robert) Davis. His adored grandchildren, Alessandra, Aurora, Merritt Davis, and Pierson “P3” Lorandeau made him smile.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
