Raymond "Ray" Ybarra, age 82, and a resident of Lorain, Ohio passed away peacefully with family at his side on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Ray was born to the late Jessie Lopez and Susie Valdez (nee Martinez) in Galveston, Texas.

He graduated from a Catholic School in Lorain in the early 60's. Ray worked at Ford for 31 years, he was a hard worker and a family man, he loved spending time with his family and talking to his good friend, and best neighbor Maxine Lowe. Ray was a true avid sports fan and a devoted Cleveland Browns fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the water, shopping for little trinkets, playing darts, and chess, and keeping his yard pristine.

He is survived by his children: Josie Gonzalez, Barb Vazquez, Pam Crenwelge, Tina Kulas, Ray Ortiz, Anita Doerner, Ramie Ybarra, Georgia Brown, Raymond Lopez, Renee Ybarra, Stephanie Smith and Rita Ortiz. Cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to numerous, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Devoted brother to Lorraine Valdez Wilson of Texas, John Lopez of Texas, Tony Valdez of Texas, Jimmy Martinez of Texas, and beloved uncle to several nieces, nephews, and extended friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Ybarra (nee Perez), his great-grandson Dontrez Edwards, his dogs, Braxton and Shilo, three sisters, and four brothers.

Prayer Services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr., Lorain, OH 44055 at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider planting a tree in honor of Ray Ybarra.
