September 16, 1940 – November 21, 2024
Robert "Bob" F. Mayerchak, age 84, and a resident of Vermilion, passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at Kingston of Vermilion on Thursday, November 21, 2024 after battling with both Hodgkins and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Bob was born on September 16, 1940 in Charleroi, PA to the late Andrew and Susanne (nee Strelick) Mayerchak.
Before his illness he loved hunting, fishing, bowling but most importantly spending time with his family and friends. Bob was a past member of the LaGrange Police Auxiliary unit and was known as ham radio operator, "River Rat 57" . He was an avid hockey fan and had played defenseman for the Fort Wayne Comets Pepsi Junior League. He enjoyed watching baseball and always spoke about his time playing 2nd base for a local softball team. He was always full of advice and good stories.
In addition to his parents Andrew and Susanne Mayerchak he is preceded in death by his daughter Carol Lewandowski of Chaleroi, PA and his brother Ken Mayerchak of Willow Street, PA.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Sandra (nee Beveridge) Mayerchak of Vermilion; his daughter Lisa (Michael) Sawyer of Franklin, TN; his son Robert Lewandowski of Chaleroi, PA; his step-daughters Kimberly Mills of Fremont, Kris (Kevin) Allmon of Vermilion; and his step-son Keith (Brenda) Mills of Collins; his grandchildren Samantha Stempowski of Parma, Christopher Stempowski Jr. of Lorain, Ashley (Nathan) Parson of Sheffield Lake, Allie Allmon of Vermilion, Brittany (Jason) Simon of Vermilion, Brandon (Kaitlyn) Mills of Wakeman, Joel (Nicole) Parker of Atlanta, GA, Brittany Parker of Atlanta, GA and six great-grandchildren; he is also survived by his lifelong friends Vic and Bert Celaschi whom he counted as his family including their children Vicki, Victor and the late Tracy.
A Celebration of Life will be held January 11, 2025 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the AmVets Post 22, 1517 State Road, Vermilion, 44089.
