IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sam Wiliam
Odom Jr.
March 19, 1943 – October 3, 2024
Sam William Odom, Jr., 81, of Lorain, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Mercy New Life Hospice. Born on March 19, 1943, in Mobile, Alabama, Sam was the cherished son of the late Sam William Odom, Sr. and Mary E. (nee Cobb) Odom.
He attended Lorain High School Class of 1961, Sam excelled in track and field. After graduating, he dedicated three decades to Ford Motor Company, where he eventually retired in 1993. In 1958, Sam dedicated his life to Jehovah God and became one of Jehovah's Witnesses, finding joy in sharing the hope of a bright future with everyone he encountered. Beyond his ministry, Sam was an avid professional sports fan, particularly devoted to the Cleveland Browns. He loved fishing, golfing, and cherishing moments with family and friends, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Sam's love story began with his childhood sweetheart, with whom he reconnected in high school after growing up in the same neighborhood. He shared a profound bond with his daughter throughout her life.
Sam was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his sister, Elaine Reynolds.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 61 years, Betty (nee Williams), and their daughter, Stephanie (Dwayne) Reynolds of Lorain. He is also survived by his special granddaughter, Damari Cobbs of Lorain, his niece, Ariana Reynolds of Lakewood, and nephews Jason (Brittany) Reynolds of Cleveland and Anthony (Alyse) Reynolds of Lorain. He will also be remembered by his great-niece, Ava Mae Reynolds, and great-nephew, Nehemiah Reynolds, both of Lorain.
Words cannot capture the depth of loss felt by all who knew and loved Sam. He was a remarkable individual who left an indelible mark on many lives. We look forward to the day we will see him again when he is resurrected to a Paradise Earth, as promised in God's word. Sam will be deeply missed by his cousins, family, and a host of friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 1 P.M., at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2330 E Skyline Dr, Lorain, OH 44053. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please keep the family in your thoughts.
