Obituary

Sharon Lynn Jones, lovingly known as "Mommom" by all her grandchildren, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, October 29th, at the age of 74.

Sharon was born in Virginia and then moved to Elyria, Ohio, as a young girl, where she attended Elyria High School, started her family, and dedicated 28 years to Ford Motor Company at the Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake.

Beyond her career, Sharon found her greatest joy in her family. She was a devoted mother to Kelly Bartley-Thacker, Kimmy Dotson, and Shannon Bennett, and a proud grandmother to Joshua Dotson, Justina Dotson, Justin Dotson, Nick Thacker, Jacob Bennett, Brendan Bennett, and Allison Bennett. Sharon also cherished her role as a great-grandmother, finding so much joy in watching her family continue to grow.

After many wonderful years in Elyria, she returned to her roots in Eggleston, Virginia — a place she adored for its beauty, peace, and the sense of home it gave her. Some of her happiest days were when her grandchildren and family came to visit her there. Summers spent on her land were full of joy and adventure — riding her four-wheeler, exploring the family's acres, and listening to her tell stories about the history rooted there. Those memories, full of so much laughter and love, will forever be cherished by everyone who shared them with her. Sharon later returned to Elyria eight years ago to be near her family once again.

Sharon was a kind-hearted and generous soul, and to know her was truly to love her. She was everyone's biggest cheerleader — no dream was too big and no achievement was too small, and she made sure you knew it. Sharon was also known for being energetic, deeply creative, funny without trying to be, and always up for trying something new. Her laughter filled every room, and her youthful spirit followed her throughout her life, especially when it came to being a grandmother. Her grandchildren kept her young, and she somehow kept them young right back, never letting any of them take life too seriously. Sharon's love for adventure, laughter, and butterflies perfectly reflected her joyful and free spirit. Her beloved dog, Leo, whom she was known to sneak a leftover hamburger patty to, will surely be waiting for her with a wagging tail.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, grace, and a family who will miss her endlessly but will forever carry her warmth, humor, and love in their hearts.

The family will honor Sharon's life in a private gathering. In lieu of a service, friends are encouraged to share memories or condolences with the family.

Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, Lorain.
