Steven J. Bering, 74, of Vermilion, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023. He was born January 9, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Steve was a lifelong boater and would race anything that went fast; stock cars, sprint cars, and go-karts. He raced inboard hydroplanes for three years. Steve had a great sense of humor, always able to laugh at himself. If you met him once, you never forgot him. He owned and operated his own trucks, hauling steel and stone. He was also employed at Lad Trucking, Richards Earthmoving, and lastly at KMU Trucking in Avon.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Kathy (Davis) Bering, daughters Susan Bering and Tonya Bering, both of Lorain, four granddaughters, one great grandson, sisters Vickie (Sonny) Adkins and Anna Vasu, and his brother Lance Vasu.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Joseph Bering, mother Deloris (Clark) Vasu, step-father Vic Vasu, daughters Diane Sue Bering and Nichole
Bering Billick, the mother of his children Shirley (Fordyce) Bering, his favorite mother-in-law Helen Staszak Davis, and his protector and buddy, his wolf-dog Fang.

As per Steve's wishes, no services, and his cremation has taken place.

Steve's family will have a cook-out and Celebration of Life later this Summer.
