IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Terry T.
Sweene
January 18, 1949 – May 17, 2023
Terry Thomas Sweene Sr. of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 with his loving wife of 52 years at his side. He was 74 years old. His family is deeply saddened by the sudden loss of their rock, but are comforted in the fact that he did not suffer. Terry was born January 18, 1949.
Terry is survived by his wife Karen Sweene, sister Joan Harvey and brother-in-law Lee Harvey, his sons Terry; his children Douglas, Zachary,
and Angelina; Mike and his wife Tabitha; their children Kylie, Coleton, Tanner, and Jackson; and Bob and his wife Jennifer; and their children Logan, Brayden, and Kaelyn.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents James and Beatrice Sweene, his brother John Sweene, and his grandchild Tyler Sweene, son of Mike and Tabitha.
Terry was born in Cumberland, Maryland, but moved to Ohio when he was 19 years old in search of work. He ultimately found that work at the Ford
Motor Company. He dedicated 38 years of his life working for Ford with the majority of those years at the Lorain Assembly Plant where he worked in the paint booth and then in the final inspections department. He later moved to the Ford Avon Assembly Plant where he retired in 2007.
Terry was a loving husband and devoted father to his three boys. He never missed a band performance, wrestling match, football game, or baseball game.
After his retirement from Ford, he found solace in the great outdoors. Camping became his escape from everyday life. Terry would spend weekends at the campgrounds socializing, bird watching and marveling at the beautiful hummingbirds and their acrobatics. He also enjoyed fishing which he was always willing to do with his grandchildren. Beyond his love of nature, Terry was known for his compassionate heart and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His acts of kindness were numerous and
far-reaching, touching the lives of countless individuals. Whether it was a neighbor in distress, a coworker, or even a stranger seeking assistance, he was always willing to help when someone was in need. There is no way to describe his selflessness and generosity toward everyone in his life.
There are no words to express how profoundly missed he will be by his wife, his family, and his many friends and acquaintances, who were all touched by his acts of kindness.
Per his wishes, there will be no services held at this time.
Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, Lorain entrusted with arrangements.
