Thomas, "Tom," "Big Red" Zimmerman, 79 of Lorain, passed away Friday October 6, 2023, after a short illness while in Kingston Rehabilitation Center, Vermilion, Ohio. He was born October 18, 1943, in Lorain, Ohio and remained a lifelong resident of Lorain.
He attended Clearview Highschool. He served in the Army for 4 years. Until his retirement in 1999 he owned and operated Big Red's Sewer Cleaning in Lorain. He was a long-time member of The River Church of the Nazarene in Amherst. A good husband and father. He was a man with a big heart. He spent much of his time volunteering to help others. He and his brother-in-law delivered bread 6 days a week to the homeless and elderly. He volunteered for many tasks at The River including building cleaning, snow removal, bulletin printing and much more.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Melody (Shriver) Zimmerman of Lorain, his son Brian Zimmerman of Lorain, his brother John "Jack" Zimmerman of Cape Corral, Florida, and his brother-in-law Barry Shriver of Lorain.
He was preceded in Death by his father John William Zimmerman, his mother Ruth (Downey) Samiclausen, his brother Edward Zimmerman, his sisters Janet Zimmerman, Carol (Zimmerman) Russo, Violet (Zimmerman) Muhich, Darlene (Zimmerman) Ewing.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on October 19th at 2:00 pm at The River Church of the Nazarene located at 210 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, OH 44001
