Virginia "Ginny" Anne Sexton (nee Cummings), age 84 and a longtime resident of Vermilion, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.
Ginny was born December 27, 1939, in Harrison, West Virginia to the late James and Katherine (Hayes) Cummings. After marrying in the 1950s, Ginny moved to Vermilion where she remained. She was a homemaker who raised her five children and also worked as a nurses aide at various nursing homes within Lorain County. Ginny enjoyed antiques, quilting, and spending time with her family. Formerly she was a forty year member of Free Pentecostal Church which was located in South Amherst.
Survivors include her three sons; Randy Carroll of Vermilion (Betty, deceased), Frank Day of Vermilion, Mark Day of Norwalk, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by her son Howard Carroll Jr. "Grundy" and her daughter Kimberly Carroll.
Family will receive friends at the Andras Crematory & Funeral Home, 3900 Broadway Avenue, Lorain on Monday, October 7, 2024, from noon until 1 p.m. The funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Ron Cooper which will take place at 1 p.m., with burial following in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
